From Page to Stage...

Amy studied at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where she studied her BA Acting for Screen and Digital Media. During her 3rd year she was tasked with the module every university student waits for, their dissertation. Instructed with 'making sure you pick something your interested in because you will be creating it for a year', Amy choose to combine her passion for feminism and her love of scriptwriting and 97% was born.

The title of the piece came from the survey by the UN Women UK that, 97% of Young women between the age of 18-24 have experienced some kind of Sexual Harassment. With a further 1 in 4 women being raped or sexually assaulted in their lifetime, with over 85,000 reported cases every year.

The purpose of 97% has always been to raise awareness of these frightening statics and to promote change.  97% is a semi-verbatim play with real women's voices and stories weaved into the dialogue of the protagonists : Dannie, Beckie and Emily. Three University friends who experience  the frighting reality of what it is like to be a women in the 21st century, whilst also what it means to be part of the unspoken and unbroken sisterhood between women.

In September 2024, 97% was fortunate enough to receive a funding grant from the Sevenoaks District Council, who without their  support this R&D would not be possible
